Downtown Fort Wayne Website
The new Downtown Fort Wayne website was designed and built from the ground up as a more focused, expressive home for discovering the people, places, events, and stories that shape the heart of the city.
Behind the scenes, the site was rebuilt with Kirby CMS, replacing WordPress with a significantly leaner and more intentional publishing system. Working closely with the Downtown Fort Wayne team, we developed a custom editing experience around the way they actually create and manage content—making the site easier to maintain without sacrificing flexibility.
The rebuild also created a much lighter technical footprint. Pages require nearly 50% fewer file requests and more than 6 MB less downloaded data, while CSS and JavaScript were reduced by roughly 97%. The result is a website that feels simpler and faster for visitors while being more efficient, maintainable, and sustainable behind the scenes.
More than a redesign, the project was an opportunity to create a digital platform that can continue evolving alongside Downtown Fort Wayne. They now have a flexible foundation for celebrating the city and helping people discover what’s happening within it.
